Indian Monuments | List of Monuments in India

The are various architectural monuments in India which are present from historic and pre-historic times. These marvels of art and design retain their beauty and importance till date. These are the major tourist spots of India and promote India in the whole world.

These monuments include various mausoleums, tombs, museums, palaces, gateways, minarets, memorials, and many more varieties. The majority of these monuments in India were built during the reigns of Mughals and the Britishers in India. Some of these were made in memory and remembrance of wives of rulers like the famous one, The Taj Mahal of Agra was built in the memory of ruler Shah Jahan’s wife Mumtaz Mahal.

There are around 25 tombs and mausoleums in India.

More than 150 museums ranging from big to small are still present in the country.

Currently, most of the monuments are under the maintenance of the ASI or the Archaeological Survey of India which takes care of the health of monuments, ticket pricing, and cleanliness.
